About Gurjot Dhillon

Gurjt, BIPOC Counselling Vancouver and BIPOC counselling online

As a Clinical Counsellor in Vancouver BC, my aim is to provide a compassionate and open-minded approach, ensuring a safe and inclusive space for individuals and couples seeking support. I am deeply committed to acknowledging and understanding the unique experiences and challenges faced by BIPOC and LGBTQ2+ communities.

I strive to create a warm and accepting environment where clients feel truly understood, respected, and valued. With a Masters degree in counselling from Yorkville University, I possess a wealth of expertise. My extensive experience working with vulnerable and marginalized people has deepened my understanding of individuals facing complex trauma.

In my practice, I strive to empower clients on their personal healing and growth journeys. By offering a unique perspective and adopting an empathetic, non-judgmental stance, I facilitate the exploration of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. My ultimate goal is to foster positive change and resilience in the lives of those I have the privilege to work with.

Foundation of my approach

Depending on your concerns, goals, and needs, I utilize a variety of clinical approaches and techniques to assist you. Including but not limited to:

Person Centred Logo

Non-judgemental. Empathy. Trust.

The focus of person-centred therapy is always on you and not on any diagnosis or categorization. As a Clinical Counsellor, I provide a climate conducive to personal growth and change. Through empathy and trust, our relationship will be productive, genuine, and non-judgemental. Together, we explore your thoughts and feelings, positive or negative, without the risk of rejection or judgement.

It’s all in your head

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on the way you think (cognitive) and act (behavioural). CBT helps you to identify the relationship between your thoughts and your feelings. By making small changes to the way you think, you can ultimately change the way you feel.

Building on your strengths

A key component to solution focused therapy is helping you identify your strengths, resources and problem-solving skills. Together we can discover solutions that build on what you are already good at. We will utilize your existing strengths and skills as a basis for problem-solving and growth.

Working with your Emotions

Emotion-focused therapy (EFT) is a therapeutic approach based on the premise that emotions are key to identity. According to EFT, emotions are also a guide for individual choice and decision making. EFT is tested and proven for couples therapy, but it is also used to address individual depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress (EFIT – Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy)
