As a Registered Social Worker with over 6 years of clinical experience, I am dedicated to empowering the people I work with. Having worked in both the child welfare and the healthcare system, I have a wealth of experience in counselling, assessment, advocacy, system navigation, and crisis intervention. My ability to understand and connect with diverse populations has allowed me to make a positive impact on the lives of those I serve.
I have a strong passion for helping people find the resilience and strength within themselves to overcome challenges. I provide a culturally safe, non-judgmental, and client-centred space where clients feel heard and supported. I use a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, along with a systems framework, to help my clients recognize their own strengths and work towards a happier and brighter future.
With a background in health sciences and social work, I bring a well-rounded education to my counselling practice. My Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Social Work, combined with my field education and work experience have equipped me with the skills necessary to provide tailored support to meet the unique needs of each client. I have a strong track record in supporting individuals and families facing a wide range of challenges, including stress, caregiver burnout, addiction, grief and loss, life transitions, life altering conditions, family conflicts, and trauma. I am committed to providing compassionate and effective support to help you overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.
Depending on your concerns, goals, and needs, I utilize a variety of clinical approaches and techniques to assist you. Including but not limited to:
The focus of person-centred therapy is always on you and not on any diagnosis or categorization. As a Clinical Counsellor, I provide a climate conducive to personal growth and change. Through empathy and trust, our relationship will be productive, genuine, and non-judgemental. Together, we explore your thoughts and feelings, positive or negative, without the risk of rejection or judgement.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on the way you think (cognitive) and act (behavioural). CBT helps you to identify the relationship between your thoughts and your feelings. By making small changes to the way you think, you can ultimately change the way you feel.
Family therapy is a type of counselling that can help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. It may include all family members or just those able or willing to participate. Family therapy sessions can teach you skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times, even after completing therapy sessions.
A key component to solution focused therapy is helping you identify your strengths, resources and problem-solving skills. Together we can discover solutions that build on what you are already good at. We will utilize your existing strengths and skills as a basis for problem-solving and growth.
Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.
